His superstitions gave him notoriety his bat made him legendary. Wade Boggs one of the most consistent hitters of his generation spent the majority of his career with the Boston Red Sox before moving on to the rival Yankees to help them capture the 1996 World Series. A 12-time All-Star and 2-time Gold Glove Award Winner Boggs had tremendous vision at the plate winning 5 batting titles including 4-in-a-row from 1985-1988. A lifetime .328 hitter Boggs collected 3010 career hits and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005. Yankees fans will always recall the image of Boggs riding around Yankee Stadium on horseback following the 1996 World Series. On August 7 1999 Wade Boggs connected for his 3000 hit with a home run.
