Derek Jeter will go down as one of the greatest players to ever put on a Yankees uniform. He became the all-time New York Yankees Hits leader when he recorded his 2722nd hit as a member of the Bronx bombers on 09/11/2009, and in doing so passed Lou Gehrig who has held the record for exactly 70 years. Additionally during the 2009 campaign, he passed Mickey Mantle for most career at-bats with the team-Mantle had held the coveted Yankees record since 1968. Jeter holds the all time hits record for the Original Yankee Stadium as well, at 1271. Jeter is renowned for his clutch hitting and ability to perform under pressure as evidenced by his lifetime average in the postseason which is above .300.
